I finally got the call back from my mammogram. This wasn’t just any mammogram.. it was the first one post diagnosis. I don’t recall ever having to wait more than a week for results before. Usually my doctor would call in a day or two to say all is well (or not..in the case of last year’s) and then I would get the generic pink form letter from radiology confirming. I knew that my doctor(s) got the results a week ago. Still, I hadn’t heard a peep from anyone. I called the cancer center yesterday and left a message which was finally returned this morning. All clear. I was too happy to ask if it was common practice to make a breast cancer patient wait for results of her mammogram. I know they are read the day of the test or the next day at the very latest.
No one on my team of medical experts has used the words “cancer free” yet. Or even “no evidence of disease”. Since these are the same people who had no problem making me hold my breath for over a week I’m going to assume they just don’t see the value in putting cancer patient’s minds at ease, so I’ll say it. Cancer Free!

Yeah!!!!! Cancer free bitches! 🙂 If it makes you feel better, none of my Dr’s would say I was cancer free either. I literally came out and asked if I was and they simply said, “yes.” Well that is encouraging! So happy for you and your crystal clear mammogram. Smliing from ear to ear!

This is fabulous news ! NED – best Thanksgiving gift ever !! Congrats to you girl….sorry your docs are slackers. It sucks when you feel like you have to be the squeaky wheel just to get results that should have been given long ago. Ugh. The cancer process is ongoing. BUT, congrats on this great news…even if you had to tell it to your own self !

SUCH GREAT NEWS!!! SO HAPPY for you!! FYI: Around where I live and have been treated (Michigan and Ohio), all breast cancer patients get IMMEDIATE results from Mammograms. That had to be so hard waiting for results. I had to wait 10 minutes and that was way too long…

Some days that’s exactly how I feel.. like this was a minor blip in my life.. and other days I worry about every new ache and twinge. I think that is pretty normal. Lots of anniversaries around this time of year from the diagnosis to surgery to beginning chemo so it’s constantly on my mind. I’m trying to make better food choices and sleep more (I was terrible at that.. 3-4 hours was a good night for me prior to cancer). I feel good for the most part, I still get tired more easily than in the past but it’s definitely getting better. You are on your way too! I hope this next phase of treatment goes well for you.

Oh man, I’m happy for you. I got immediate results. Of course, the radiologist told me one thing (Everything’s fine!) and the surgeon another (Ultrasound every 3 months, one lump looks suspicious!). So I’ll be going on the table yet again for a dreaded biopsy. Gah.
